This post is part of the series Progress
Rather than futz around I’m just writing the damn book. To be honest it’s not much of a start a 500+ words, but at least I’m making progress.
But I’m not writing a game. Why not? Because as far as I can see Dangerous Journeys is not a game, or even a set of rules for games. Which gives me and any participants an advantage in that we don’t have to fuss and fret about such nebulosities as “balance”.
For life isn’t fair, and that is how I see Dangerous Journeys, as a set of mechanics for what I’ll call an Adventure Guide. An Adventure Guide (AG) being a guide to leading a party of what DJ (Dangerous Journeys) calls Heroic Personas (HPs) through an adventure.
In short what a DJ Adventure Guide (AG) presents is an imaginary life. A simulation of real life only with an emphasis on adventure as presented in the stories of old.
But we’re not talking about story here, for as in real life events in an AG are just not predictable, not as set as they would be in a story. Thus an imaginary, a make believe life where things can be possible that are not possible in real life.
In any case I have lots more to write, and more progress reports to pass on. Dangerous Journeys will get written.
